26th July 2008
Anna arrives... Hurray. One of our new aupairs for the summer has arrived... we are having two this year as Louis will require more looking after than normal due to his recent operation. Our second aupair will arrive in a couple of weeks time.
11th July 2008
louis' knee operation - Well, our camping holiday in Cornwall has now officially been cancelled. Louis needs to have an athroscopic meniscal repair on his left knee, and so will not be allowed anywhere near the sea or sand.... oh and he is having his "trigger thumbs" fixed as well... What a start to the Summer holidays for him :-(
27th June 2008
Schoool Cricket Match, Teachers versus Parents... Another glorious evening of cricket followed by a good Bar-B-Que. I have to say though, I think the teacheers did try to cheat a little by forcing beer upon us parents while we were fielding... very tricky tactic. I am happy to report that in spite of their deviousness, the parents again triumphed... third year running... at least. :-)
24th June 2008
Today I had to take Louis for an MRI Scan on his knee that has been playing up. It has swollen up three times know in the last couple of weeks and the doctors want to have alook inside to see what is wrong. The Scan revealed a small meniscal tear (Torn cartilage bit between the tibia and the femour). We scheduled in an arthroscopic meniscal repair to be done in a couple of weeks time.
21st June 2008
The School Ball - Mega social occasion at our childrens school. This year we had an Arabian nights theme... and I have to say it was the best school ball I have ever been to. I think for once, everything was brilliant, the food, the atmosphere, the bar, the dancing... a great evening was had by all.. there were even rumours of people skinny dipping in the school pool at midnight... but I think they were just rumours.
15th June 2008
Old boys' day at my prep school
We all we to my old school for the day. We met up with Dominic's family there and all had a great time... Well, Dominic and I had the best time reminiscing and checking out everything that had changed. It was the first time in about 20 years that I had been there... and it waas still the same... well, amost... they had a "Girls domitory"..!!!! huh... what is that all about?
9th June 2008
Hurray... our new builders F.J. Lane have started work on our house... Finally after so many months we are on the move again. Lots of work going on and hopefully we will get a good result this time.
24th May 2008 - 1st June 2008
Holiday in Greece... See the link on the left for photos... We had a great time and played huge amounts of tennis. Louis was FANTASTIC and the tennis pro there said he was quite amazing. He has a very natural backhand shot and managed to keep a rally going for 42 shots with me. We need to investigate more lessons for him now. The rest of the time was spent either lazing around the pool or playing volleyball... and yes we managed to beat the staff team at the end of the week :-) He he he.
Very sad that the holiday had to come to an end, but...c'est la vie. :-(
10th, 11th 17th, 18th and 24th May 2008
Looking for a new kitchen, designing a new kitchen, visiting show rooms, choosing colours, shapes, appliances, handles, lights...blah blah blah... Loads of time has been spent just sorting out the kitchen... But I think we are finally there. We have spent so long in kitchen shops recently that I think the boys have completed all the Nintendo DS games they have been give recently..!!! ;-)
I think we have also managed to find a new builder to repair our house. He has just submitted his quote and we are awaiting the outcome of that. If it does not get approved, we might be in for a long wait as there does not seem to be anyone else who is available to do the work...
7th May 2008
Another trip to Oxford for Felix today for an ultrasound scan on his kidneys and associated pipework. We also had to see the specialist surgeon about how he is progressing...
Yipppeeeee.... Felix has been discharged from the hospital. The last scan was so good that they do not think that we will need to go back. We will obviously need to keep an eye on him for any infections, but he has been well and truely fixed of his problem.
We are all very happy for him and so glad that the outcome of five years of checkups, blood tests, antibiotics, operations, gfr scans, mcug scans, ultrasound scans....tests, tests and more tests... has finally resulted in a healthy result. We are OVERJOYED. :-)
5th May 2008
May Day Bank Holiday
What a gorgeously sunny day. We all went up to London on the train to visit the London Eye and London Zoo. The weather was gloriously hot.. a bit too hot in the London Eye capsule, but the view was better tha wehn Lisa and I last came....(February 2006).
The boys enjoyed the journey up as that was quite exciting, but the journey down was a bit boring for them and they could not wait to get out.
We then took a taxi to London Zoo, where we had to queue for just under one hour to get in... it was terribly boring for Louis and Felix, but they did behave very well inspite of it. Once inside we had a great time eating hot dogs, looking at the aquarium , the penguin feeding, the giraffes the butterflies... loads to see.
Coming back home, we all stopped off at Pizza Express for supper... just to round off a fantastic Bank holiday.
1st May 2008
I am still enjoying cycling to Waterloo... so much so, that I have now bought myself a pair of waterproof trousers and a waterproof cover for my rucksack... No more skanky tube trains for me :-) Bring on the rain...
22nd April 2008
A quick update for all you avid readers of this wonderful website... yes, both of you :-)
Our house renovations following the flood are not going very well... the builders have so far had to redo most of the plastering that they did and have now had to redo the wooden floor that they laid down...not in accordance with the correct guidelines... Someone please help us if they get tasked with replacing the kitchen as well; I can see at least another three to four months of arguing as to how that should be done.
Other news... well there is not much, the summer term has now started and so boys are happily back. Louis is greatly enjoying all the extra chess lessons he is having. Felix is still just having fun.
Not long now until Felix is 5, and soon after that we are all off to Greece on a Mark Warner holiday... Here comes the sun :-)
22nd March 2008
Well, I have just completed a massive re-organisation of the website... you may not notice much of a difference, except for the obvious update, but all the files on the server have been moved around and put into better directories. For my benefit really, not yours. :-)
Anyway, the Selwood family are spending Easter down in Devon, LOADS of fresh country air and long walks. Great for the kids... much better than playstation every day for them.
30th February 2008
I am discovering that the train ride into town plus a twenty minute cycle to work is not too bad and am quite enjoying it... plus I get a bit of exercise in the morning. When it rains, I do chicken out and take the tube. I am not that much of a cycling nut.
19th February 2008
Well, day two of my job and I have had to fly to Manchester for three days. Oh well, at least the hotel is not too bad and right in the airport complex so very handy. Three days of training to help me get into the company's way of working.
18th February 2008
Andreas starts a new job... :-) Hurray.
I am working in London again... well it is actually my first "full time in London" Job, but I am excited and and very much looking forward to it.
The Maldives 2008
We arrived at about 10am, local time, and got the speedboat from the Airport Island (Hulhule) to Bandos (about a 30 minutes ride). We were greeted with the obligatory cold flannnels and fruit cocktails, both of which were very welcome, before making our way to our new homes for the next two weeks. Having dumped our rucksacks in the rooms, we all made our way down to the nearest bit of beach (only 50 meters away) for our first swim.
Well, I won't bore you with details of every day, but needless to say we all had a great time... See the photos. Lisa and I did lots of diving, but the viz was not too good... only about 10-15m. The children had great fun playing in the sea and in the swimming pool. Louis learnt to snorkel and had great fun looking for the Picasso Trigger fish , the Oriental Sweetlips and the Moray eel that frequented our patch of coral reef.
Christmas eve was absolutely magical. The staff had made a HUGE effort with the decorations and especially with the food. It was a gastronomic feast that was spectacularly displayed. Just after midnight Santa parascended onto a boat as it drove into the harbour, loads of kids had stayed up to meet him.
After two weeks, the holiday came to an end, we were all very sad to be leaving, but had had a superb time. I am sure the memories of that holiday will stay with us all for a long time.
December 2007... CHRISTMAS... MALDIVES...DIVING...SUN BATHING :-)
Well, the time has finally come, and we are all off to the Maldives... all TEN of us!!! Oh yes, Lisa's parents, sister's family and us Selwoods are all going on a massive Birthday bash. Two birthdays to celebrate... oh and Christmas. I guess that makes it three.
We all meet up down on the south coast and get taxis to Gatwick for the 11 hour flight to Male. The plane took off at about 5pm and after a couple of hours of fun on board and a quick supper, the children settled down and managed to sleep for most of the way. More than could be said for the adults.
November...
No real news... I am too busy working to update the website and so have forgotten all the things that have happened during this time.
Our House is still drying out, We are still living the other side of town, Louis got an invitation to the local Tennis club as he was seen as "someone with potential"... WELL DONE LOUIS... and we are GREATLY loking forward to our Christmas break in the Maldives.
28th October 2007
Haloween Party - Lots of children running around in costumes... general chaos... loads of fun for the children again.
19th October 2007
Felix's "Sting" operation - The day started very eary... about 5:30am we had to get Felix up as 6am was the last time he was allowed a drink of water. We then drove to the Radclife hospital in oxford to get there for half past seven. After a few initial tests and checks we had to wait for our turn on the operating table... it was nearly half past twelve by the time we got there. Poor Felix was absolutely starving by the time he eventually got sent down.
The operation went very well and initial results are very positive. He was, however, absolutely starving when he came round and demanded food immediately which was declined on the grounds that some children get sick if they eat too quickly. Lisa and I managed to persuade them quite quickly to give him some food as he was getting more upset. After having had some food Felix calmed down considerably and was back to his usual self causing trouble and demanding a video... which he got...Star Wars... No surprise there.
We then had to wait a further three hours while they took blood at regular intervals to check on his kidney function.
We finally got home 12 hours after we left, but it was, we think, a very successful day.
18th October 2007
St pirans Fireworks night - Half term starts for Louis and Felix with a bit of a party. The School fireworks party is a great event with loads of the parents turning up to roast pig on a stick, fireworks and a great bonfire.
11th September 2007
Arrrgggghhhhh... Siemens have moved..!!!! no longer at the nice tall building with gym, and fantastic canteen... oh no, grotty building next door, while most people have move about 10 miles down the road to a lovely new building.. I am stuck with crisps and sandwiches for lunch...Huh.. Great..!!!! :-(
10th September 2007
Andreas Starts a new job... finally back to work after our flooding... at Siemens again. Ah... should not be too difficult getting back into the swing of things there.
5th September 2007
Our new aupair, Pamela, arrives in England. Andreas goes to Heathrow to pick her up
2nd September 2007
Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me.... Well, I am now even older, having reached another one of life's many milestones :-) Lisa threw a very nice party for me, so loads of presants from friends. Thank you to all who turned up and made it a wonderful evening.
9th August 2007
Andreas is off for a quick medical exam... so that I can resume my divemasters course. See my diving page for more info...Oh, passed with flying colours :-)
28th July 2007
Andreas goes to Heathrow airport to pick up our summer au pair Sarah.
27th July 2007
THE NEW HOUSE... :-)
Andreas packs up the caravan and drives the boys to our new home... Lisa spends all day sorting out the new home and getting the removal men organised so we actually have some where to sleep when we all pile in.
24th July 2007
Andreas returns to Cornwall to be back with Louis and Felix... releasing Auntie Sandra and allowing her to get back to her normal life. Thank you very much Sandra for looking after our children while we sort out our house.
23rd July 2007
Lots of house hunting for Lisa and Andreas while we race to find somewhere new to live before Louis and Felix's holiday finishes; auntie Sandra is looking after them while we try and fix things after the flood.
20th July 2007
Woke up early ready for another lovely day at the beach only to have a phone call from my Father in Law..."Hi, your holiday is finished.. ..come home you have been flooded"
Disaster... What can we do with the children??? Well, Lisa's sister offered to come down from Devon to look after them but would have to wait an hour and a half for her to arrive. Fortunately we also had some other friends on holiday just round the corner and they very kindly babysat Louis and Felix while we made haste back home...4 hours away.
When we arrived, most of the water had gone from the house and Lisa's parents had done stirling work in mopping up and tidying up.... but the damage had been done and all the floors are having to be ripped up and most of our furniture is ruined. The insurance company
have been very good and reacted very quickly to our needs. Many thanks to them we have a temporary home rented while our house is going to be repaired.
18th July 2007
A really nice day, the wind had dropped and the sun still shone. We spent all morning playing on the beach while the tide went out.
In the afternoon we went to the "Cornish Cyder Farm", Lisa did as much tasting as was allowed... ;-)
17th July 2007
At last a good day, but it was very windy
Polgooth Inn for supper with friends... great fun and good food.
16th July 2007
We all went in to Mevagissey in the morning... WOW it was quiet, but we are here one week before most people break up for their summer holidays.
In the afternoon we met up with some friends at the Eden project.
15th July 2007
It had rained all night, the awning floor was awash. During the day, it rained... it was horrid... it was wet... ALL DAY :-(
14th July 2007
We all go up at 03:30am...!!!! for the long drive down to Cornwall. The early start means we get a clear traffic free run down... but it also means Daddy might be grumpy by the end of the day.
The Drive was very good and we met up with Grandma and Grandad at 7:30am for breakfast at Belstone Services. It was as delicious as usual... only one daown side... there was no uncle Steve to pay for it..!!! ;-)
We finally got to the camp site at 10am and were let in as our pitch was free (not normally allowed in until 12pm) Only problem was that there was a caravan already on our pitch... so we called the office to see when it was going to be removed... only to learn that it had only just been put there..!!! fortunatelysomeone had made a mistake, so they came and moved it to the correct site.
It was a glorious day and Grandma, Granddad and Andreas set up most of the caravan while Lisa looked after Louis and Felix.
it took some time to set everything up but we finally got there and could then relax with a nice beer and a traditional chicken and chips from the camp shop.
13th July 2007
Julia's last day with us... It is a very sad day. She has been wonderful and we are all very sad to see her go. Julia we wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon; please visit or we will visit you...!!! :-)
It is also the last day of the summer term for the boys... the holidays beckon; Off to pentewan for a couple of weeks and then our summer au pair, Sarah, comes to us. We are looking forward to her arriving and hope that she has as much enjoyment as Julia had.
2nd July 2007
Lisa and Andreas went to the Diana Concert at the NEW Wembly last night. It was Great fun. Elton opened and closed the show and there were many good acts in between. The highlights, for me... in no particular order, were P Diddy who was surprisingly good, The Quo, the musicals, Lily Allen, Natasha Beddingfield and Bryan Ferry. David Brent... whoops sorry, Ricky Gervais was also good and due to "technical difficulties" even managed to do the (in)famous dance.
30th June 2007
Louis' Party Day
Lisa got up really early to go shopping for Louis' party... Andreas had to dash off for another Teachers Vs Parents match. This time it was 5-a-side Football... This time we were soundly thrashed. I had heard that the Teachers had been practising for a number of weeks before hand...!!! Never mind... We did beat them in the big boys game of 11-a-side earlier in the year.
Louis' Party was from 1 - 3pm, so I barely had time to go home and get showered, but Lisa and Julia had everything organised. I think everyone enjoyed it... and I know everyone enjoyed the ice cream and cakes afterwards... as there was not enough left for me!!!
29th June 2007
Louis' Birthday...Horray For Louis Six at last :-)
Louis had to go to school... unfortunately, but was up at 6am to make sure he did have some time playing with his new presents. Julia and Lisa did manage to get him off to school almost to plan... which is not too bad. He was also very delighted to find that his Grandma and Grandad had turned up during the night.
At 9:30 we all trooped to school as it was Felix's sports day. The terrible weather meant that it was held indoors... so no Parents race... the children still had all their races, but they were a bit shorter than usual, for which I am sure they were grateful :-)
After School we all went to the Harvester Restaurant as a treat for Louis, but I think that he just wanted to get back home and play with his toys.
At 5:30pm Andreas went back to school as there was the Parents vs Teachers Cricket match. Last year we won by the narrowest of margins and were hoping to improve on that this year. Unfortunately, my batting let me down this year and I was not the top runscorer, but I did take a really good running catch and my bowling was much better, I even got a couple of wickets... In spite of my terrible batting, everyone else made up for that, we did win the match and thoroughly enjoyed the Bar-B-Que afterwards.
19th June 2007
... and the heavens opened... we were about 5 minutes away from the house being flooded. The waters came into the garage to a depth of about 4 inches..!!!! only 1 inch short of going over the front door. WOW were we lucky. I have not yet determined what we have lost in the garage.
11th June 2007
Poor Felix was not very well last night so Lisa took him to the Doctors today... He has Tonsilitis :-(
Lisa went to get some medicine for him... which he hated, so she had to check with the pharmacist if there was a different flavour... who said children were difficult..!!!!!
4th June 2007
Arrived back home at 3am UK time... Greek equivalent of 5am!!!! What a long day it has been. Missing San Agostino already. :-(
Four hours sleep then off to work... Hi Mellisa, I am sure you don't miss any of this...
3rd June 2007
Last Day in Greece... we are all gutted to be leaving and wish for a second week. Andreas went off for a great snorkelling trip across the bay with Nikos and Mellisa. Great fun.
29th May 2007 - 3rd June 2007
The next few days followed a similar pattern with the addition of windsurfing, sailing and water skiing on an ad hoc basis.
29th May 2007
Ahh... Much better weather. Swimming, football, Volleyball, waterpolo... GREAT FUN, scuba diving (but only in the pool as the diving license had not been granted (GUTTED))
28th May 2007
Weather is foul this morning, windy and rainy. I had rather hoped we had left that behind in England. Not to worry, most of the day was spent getting used to the facilities and listening to all the talks on what was on offer. If we have to have a bad day, the first one is always best. The boys were still determined to get their shorts on and go and play in the beach in the surf and the sand.
27th May 2007
WE ARE ALL OFF TO Greece.... HORRAY
Flight leaves at 15:30hrs
.
.
.
Arrive in the evening... It is dark... Bed time
26th May 2007
We are off to Greece tomorrow and have just discovered that Louis' passport has run out....!!!! Arrrggggghhhhh. Well, Lisa calls the passport office and they cannot give us a same day appointment so if we go, we are just going to have to chance it. Lisa then arranges for a friend to meet Andreas at the main Post Office in town so that she can fill in her part of the application form. I then had to dash to the station to catch the next train to London...then taxi to Victoria where the passport office is. I arrive at 10:45; the cut off time to guarantee same day passport is 11am; Phew just in time...BUT I don't have an appointment so I have to explain to the manager what has happened. She kindly grants me an appointment for 12:45.... too late for a guaranteed same day passport. :-( I return at 12:30 to be told by one of the guys at the downstairs counter that the passports take 4 hours to be printed!!!! As the office closed at 15:45 there really was no chance of getting the passport the same day. I went upstairs to complete the application process and pay for the passport and I got a reciept telling me what time the passport would be ready for colllection...Tuesday at 09:15hrs. Not good, Lisa and Louis would end up missing a third of the holiday. The counter clerk who processed the application refused to confirm to me that the cance of getting it the same day was ZERO, so I pressed him on the matter and he finally confirmed that the chance of getting the passport was "VERY SLIM... but NOT ZERO"; a glimmer of hope. I had nothing to lose by waiting till the last possible moment and going back to check if it had been printed. I had a two and a half hour anxious wait and returned at 15:35. When I returned, there was a couple there whom I recognised... they had also tried to get an appointment at the last minute... they had just collected their passport. This sight filled me with hope as I am sure they did not complete the application process before me. I tentatively approached the cashiers window and handed over my reciept...he asked a few security questions and then scurried off.... I nervously waited and watched as he rifled through the collection of completed passports... was ours there.... had all our efforts paid off....
23rd May 2007
Andreas has just finished a superb FreeDiving course at the S.E.T.T. (Submarine Escape Training Tower - at HMS Dolphin in Gosport). Emma Farrell (the author of "One Breath") took the course in conjunction with Deeper Blue with David, Simon, Anna and Sarah; "Hi" to you all. The course was a two day introduction into FreeDiving with four deeptank sessions where we got the opportunity to dive down to 28.1m on a single breath...!!! General Freediving training, technique and rescue methods were taught. I have to say that the star of the show was an ex para P.T. instructor aged 68... who got to the bottom of the tank well before any one else. Huge respect... he now wants to try off road motor-cross!!!!!
Next stop for me is to get the AIDA 2* and 3* courses done.
17th May 2007
Lisa is off to Las Vegas and Seattle for a week from tomorrow.... :-( We will all miss her.
Hi Sweetie if you are reading this...
12th May 2007
Felix's Birthday Party
Well, lots of people came for Felix's perty... which was excellent considering the fact that it was due to rain all day; In the end it only rained for about half an hour at 1pm... party started at 2:30pm. Felix and Louis thoroughly enjoyed the bouncy slide that we had hired. It turned up at 10am and they played on it almost non-stop all day. It finally left at 7pm with the last of the guests who couldn't/wouldn't leave (party was meant to finish at 5:30pm)
A special "Hi" to Vivian and congratulations on her confirmation.
22nd April 2007
Boys are back to school for the summer term now... Weather has been glorious here over the Easter holidays with much mowing of the lawn, football in the garden, a great trip to Hayling island for the first paddle in the sea of the year, mant trips to Legoland and a trip to "Odds Farm" as well. The boys have had a brilliant time with Julia. Louis has also had lots of football training with Wycombe Wanderers and a Hotshots course.
Lisa and Andreas are already looking forward to the holiday in Greece... :-)
12th March 2007
HTML coding for the home page has been tidied up... many thanks to Esme for getting rid of all the Microshaft excess rubbish. I can update this site in notepad now without getting lost in all the tags.
On Saturday Andreas played in the Parents Vs Teachers Football match at St Pirans School... A great game played in the best spirit with the Parents triumphing by 3 goals to 2.
Louis and Felix are still mad on anything to do with "Cars"... the movie, the game, the toys...etc, but I think that Louis is slowly being weened off with the coming good weather and spent most of last weekend playing football in the garden.
10th February 2007
Lisa’s birthday... great fun day
we all did Crazy golf, pancakes, LOADS of cycling, 10-pin bowling, swimming AND
we squeezed in a little party in the evening... Felix fell asleep just before
supper, but we managed to wake him and he ate heartily.
9th February 2007
Half term for the boys and we are all off to Centre Parcs; Andreas, Lisa, Louis, Felix and Julia all
cram into the car and trundle off to Longleat Forrest. The weather is foul... rain and sleet all the
way.
8th February 2007
SNOW...SNOW...SNOW... we all woke up at about 6am to discover there was over 10cms of snow on the
ground. Andreas rushed out and built a snowman. Louis was next out for a quick snowball fight with
Daddy before school.
3rd February 2007
Julia, our new au pair, arrives today... HORRAY. We all drive up to Heathrow airport to meet her.
We are very excited. She has been an au pair before so we are confident that she will be good for us.
Supper was at the Harvester as a treat for the boys.
16th January 2007
Felix has just been for another scan on his kidneys and bladder and the results were quite good... with
only a little reflux back to the kidneys... next scan will be July now.
Christmas was wonderful, both Louis and Felix had a great time and got everything they wanted... and more;
to be expected really. They are now both enjoying fighting each other with their light sabres... Felix
always loses very dramatically by throwing himself onto the floor sending his sabre careering across the
carpet... not sure how long they will last at that rate ;-)
We have found ourselves a new au pair, another German girl called Julia. She has been an au pair before
and enjoys travelling. We are all looking forward to her arrival in February.
16th December 2006
Well, a quicker update than anticipated, but our au pair Hannah, has just told us
that she is feeling homesick and may not return after the Christmas break...so we are on the lookout for
another au pair; hopefully one who will stay a bit longer...
15th December 2006
Nearly Christmas, both children are getting very excited. We bought a very nice Nobel pine tree from the
local farm who were doing a roaring trade; even got some free mistletoe from them :-) how festive. Lisa
and the boys decorated the tree one evening and we are now just waiting for the presents to arrive. Louis
and Felix are desperately hoping that they will get a "Light-saver" (sic) after having played so much
"Lego Star Wars" on the Playstation.
29th November 2006
Our new au pair, Hannah (from Homburg - Germany), has now been with us for one week; busy taking Louis and Felix to school and entertaining them after school until Lisa or I get home. All is ok at the moment.
Went to see the new James Bond film (Casino Royale) on the first night... very good film. Most unlike any of the other ones so if that is what you are expecting then.. tough... but a very good film... but I spotted a mistake... when Bond keys in the password at the Casino game, it ends in ...47 but he tells Vesper it ends in ...37... Whoops...!!!!
Not much else happening... Loads of Christmas shopping :-)
15th November 2006
I think that we have found ourselves a new au pair, a very nice girl from Germany, who , hopefully will be with us in about a weeks time.
Felix was due to go to the Radcliffe Hospital today for his regular kidney check-up... but has been sick
all day so we have had to postpone it. Otherwise all else is well with the family.
6th November 2006
... and Nevra has gone again...!!! So we are looking for another au pair... any takers?
27th October 2006
Whoa... what a long break, sorry for not updating more recently, and so much has happened...!!!
It is half term now for the boys and Louis has been going to football training almost every day this week,
Felix has just been causing chaos with Nevra. Lisa has been working as hard as usual and Andreas has got a
job...!!! WOW Working for TAC Europe in Basingstoke. We should now be able to afford the Christmas
presents that the children are already demanding..!!!! Damn TV advertising.
23rd September 2006
Nevra (our new au pair) has arrived... we have just picked her up from the airport :-) just
settling in now...
Lisa and Andreas went to see Robbie Williams in concert at the Milton Keynes Bowl on Tuesday night...
he was FANTASTIC... He was supported by the Basement Jaxx they were really good too.
Lisa is delighted that Sufe has taken a job with her at Amazon... Great news as they get on so well
4th September 2006
We have found a new au pair now, not sure when she will be able to start, but hopefully it will be soon,
then I can start looking for job in earnest.
27th August 2006
We are now back from our four week holiday in Cornwall and are looking for another Au Pair to come
and live with us to help look after our two lovely children... See pages for Louis and Felix.
Andreas also has to get a new job... but can't really do this until we have a new au pair.... CV available
on request :-)
29th July 2006
Well, the world cup is over.. and I have to say I think Germany acquitted themselves far better than
England... but they still didn't bring back the cup.. after a heartbreaking defeat to the Italians...
it was the worst day of the world cup for me... but it was the best game of the tournament.
Our au pair Franzi has now left us.. :-( so we are now looking for a replacement... any one want the
job... see the boys' pages to see how much trouble they are..!!!!!
Updates not quite so regular again as we are on holiday in Cornwall. Camping in Pentewan... Back later

Joy of Joy... On Saturday I was given a World Cup ticket (original people could no longer go)... :-)
To see USA (who?) Vs The Czech Republic (potential winners?)... DISASTER... I could not manage to get a
flight back from the game the same day :-(( AAARRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHH
England Vs Germany so far...
A good start for Germany with a sort of convincing win over Costa Rica... good to see that they don't
stop scoring after only one goal. Major downside... letting in two soft goals. I guess that comes
from Jens playing too much in England, not really taking control of his defence and marshalling his
troops properly.
As for England... well a storming start and I thought that they would out do the German score tally...
but sadly no, a decidedly poor rest of game meant that England only ended up 1-0 winners over Paraguay.
So far on this form, I reckon Germany are ahead of England... but not by much. Let's hope for more
convincing performances later.

Well, updating more regularly now and my Google rank is returning after having dropped right off the
scale... we had gone from Hero to Zero in a matter of months (or from anchor to w**ker as Sir Alan would
put it... Great program that Apprentice. I might give it a go next year :-)
Loads of birthday parties around this time of year... almost every weekend is taken up with them. We will
still manage to squeeze in the obligatory World cup watching. Going to be another typical England v
Germany battle in our house… J
Andreas has given up the teaching lark... I could not get the motivation to teach so many pupils who were
fundamentally rude and abusive especially as it took me away from my family for so long in the evenings
and at weekends, planning the lessons and marking their work. I am now the official live-in gardener!!!!
:-) Besides the school I worked at had serious senior management issues up with which I was not
prepared to put.
More updates later......World cup commentary anyone?...we have “The Wife” (England) Vs “The Au-pair” (Germany)
More updates later......Spot the famous line anyone?
